WeDry2

WeDry2 represents one component of our effort to provide a comprehensive and comprehensible approach to water damage mitigation, moisture control and damage restoration services.

Historically, the incentive for drying a water damaged building was how inefficiently the task could be completed and how long as much equipment as possible could be rented before someone complained. This has also often been accompanied by mitigation strategies that hinge on the brand of equipment that the responder had in their warehouse rather than what was the most appropriate for the situation at hand. (i.e.-If we have LGR dehumidifiers in our warehouse, then we need to put LGR dehumidifiers on the job.)

In either instance, there was no momentum to find the most efficient method to dry a structure. The only incentive was to rent equipment-as much and as long as possible.

REE-Construction is not an equipment rental company. We are a damage mitigation and restoration contractor. We use equipment to accomplish a goal-dry the structure quickly, completely and efficiently. Our client's employ us for our ability to dry a structure, not for equipment rental.

Rather than take an approach to water damage mitigation dictated by one drying methodology, we use what ever combination of equipment (e.g. heat, air exchange, mechanical dehumidification) and whatever system (open or closed) is most effective for the situation. We pride ourselves on having a combination of the best trained, best equipped, most experienced and Certified staff in our market area. We make that statement with confidence that it can't be successfully challenged.

Our goal is simple: put the appropriate amount and type of equipment into a project to dry completely and then document that we have achieved the desired result; normal moisture content(MC)levels for structural materials and a property ready to restore to its pre-loss condition

To implement this approach, we have taken the latest edition of the IICRC S-500 Water Damage Restoration Standards combined with industry best practices and established a performance based criteria and pricing model by which we dry buildings. Because of our confidence in our staff's capabilities, we have used conservative equipment assumptions and aggressive drying goals as a basis for our calculations. Our system provides a fixed cost for equipmentand labor usage for any Class 1, 2 and 3 event within any of the recognized Catagories (1,2,3) based upon cubic and square feet of area dried. Class 4 damages, involving specialty drying situations, are treated individually as defined in the Standard.

Traditional air mover rental has been replaced with fixed cost entries for "air movement" within the various classes of damage. Similarly dehumidifier rental charges have been replaced with fixed cost "air modification" entries. Both of these are fundamental principals used in mitigation of water damaged environments.

This concept is being discussed at various industry venues and has most recently been described as "performance based drying". A debate was first held at the RIA Restoration Conference in Denver in November of 2006 comparing this approach to traditional equipment rental strategies. It has been a topic of conference presentations in a number of venues since that time.

We began using this method in May of 2006 and believe we are one of the first in the country to adopt this approach. This gives us incentive to get in, dry it right, dry it completely and get out as quickly as possible. The first logical result is less disruption for the property owner. Secondly, we offer predictable costs and no disputes over types, numbers, days, sizes, configurations or brand names of equipment used to dry a structure. We use what's best for our client, the insurer and ourselves. This is a win, win, win situation.

We predict that standard entries into the Xactimate database will mimic our approach in the near future.
